I have been sailing since around 2008. I learned how to sail a H16 at Hurlburt Field while in the Air Force. From there I met a member at FWYC and started immediately to crew on a few of the races. Morgan 30 and Santana 30/30. Soon I was up at Augusta Sailing Club up in GA while stationed at Ft Gordon. I purchased a Catalina 22 which I had for a couple of years until returning to Ft Walton Beach. Once again I was crewing on the boats for races and purchased another C22. Lisa and I met at FWYC as she is a sailor also and we married in 2013. Hurricane Sally took Cat’s Meow, our C22. Lisa and I could not decide on what sailboat to get next. The C22 was not really fast enough for our liking. We considered a number of monohull boats. After coming out of COVID hibernation the day after Wetafest we happened upon the FWYC and talked to one of the last people packing up his Weta. Never really considered going back to a multihull. Post COVID we really like the idea of a boat that can be single or double handed, is fast and super easy to rig.  After sailing the Weta for almost 2 years I can say with confidence that it is a great boat with an excellent community.
